Shai Tamari , Israel , District 9630

University of North Carolina

Department of History

Born and raised in Israel , Shai has witnessed the devastating effects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, both as a civilian and a soldier. During his bachelor studies in Journalism, at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane , Australia , Shai decided it was not enough to simply write about the horrors in the Middle East , but he had to become active in pursuing a political solution to the conflict. He has a Master's degree in Near and Middle Eastern Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, and after completing his Rotary program in Global History, he intends to find work in conflict resolution with a government or NGO directly involved with Israel/Palestine.
