Carmen Strigel, Germany, District 1930

Carmen holds an advanced degree in media practice and a teaching degree for secondary school level in Mathematics, English and Geography from the University (PH) of Weingarten, Germany and from Växjö University, Sweden. Prior to becoming a Peace Fellow, she worked at the European Schoolnet in Brussels as a project coordinator for international projects on Information and Communication Technologies in Education, funded by the European Commission. Previously, she had managed the international office of the College of Education in Weingarten and represented Germany in the European Board of the Erasmus Student Network. Carmen was involved in her community as one of the founding members of the Rotaract Club of Ravensburg. Her work and studies focus on education reform issues, new technologies for development, and civil society participation. Carmen has also completed a 3 months internship with the United Nations Development Program in Azerbaijan. She has found her passion in working out strategies for developing countries on how to use Information and Communication Technologies to further sustainable Human Development.
