Ana Salazar, Australia, District 9690

Duke University
Program in International Development Policy

Ana and her family, of Jewish and Palestinian descent, were exiled from El Salvador in 1990 and subsequently moved to Australia. This experience, in addition to her father's work in empowering rural communities, was the catalyst for Ana's interest in the field of Peace and Conflict Resolution and International Development. Ana received her BA in International Relations and Women's Studies from the University of Queensland and completed a post-graduate degree in Women's Studies. Until recently she worked with CARE International as a Specialist Consultant in Rural Development training and empowering rural leaders in El Salvador. Ana hopes the Rotary World Peace Fellowship will better prepare her for a career in international social entrepreneurship.
